1) Adopt. Don't buy.
Some shelters have to, ahem, get rid of the animals due to overcrowding issues after a period dog time. You can save a life by adopting one!
2) Do you have a pet at home? One that's outgrown it's supply?
Donate your too-small kennels or a brush that you bought for your cat but turns out it was for dogs. Every little bit helps!
3) Put aside some of that pocket money/salary!
It doesn't cost much to donate a small amount of money, or give away half of the animal food intended for your pet!
4) Grab a brush and help out!
Grooming relieves stress. It helps the animals look better, their fur shine brighter, makes it easier for them to get adopted!
5) Training
Have a passion to teach? Many animals are obedient little creatures! Spare some of your time at a nearby rescue to help out the poor little animals!
6) Sharing only takes one click
Are there events that raise money for shelters? Donation links? Share them, and tell people about them!
7) Be a Role Model
Show people that animals are not toys. Don't give them away, and be nice to your pets.
8) Help the lost
See "Lost" posters around? Help out the owners before the animals get caught and end up in shelters!
9) Spread the Word about Adoption
As simple as that.
10) Neuter your pet
It may sound harsh or cruel, but it's the only way to stop overpopulation!
11) Help Out!
Help will always be needed, whether it's a matter of cleaning the housing of the animals or taking the dogs for a walk.
