Snowy

It's my dog's birthday today. Yup, December 31st. So it's pretty easy to keep track of his age. My dog is a Pomeranian, a white Pomeranian, hence the name Snowy.

Personal View

the heartache i get from looking at animals looking back at me from their big round eyes..is probably nothing compared to the heartache they feel from looking out of the cage

Animal Farm

Man is the only creature that consumes without producing.  He does not give milk, he does not lay eggs, he is too weak to pull the plough, he cannot run fast enough to catch rabbits.  Yet he is lord of all the animals.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes

I quite liked that movie. It shows us that we should not mistreat our animals and if we do there will be chaos.

Alice Walker

As we talked of freedom and justice on day for all, we sat down to steaks. I am eating misery, I thought, as I took the first bite. And spit it out.

Playdough

""I am at his service," she says of her cat, Playdough. "Whatever he wants me to do is what I do."

If we cut up beasts simply because they cannot prevent us and because we are backing our own side in the struggle for existence, it is only logical to cut up imbeciles, criminals, enemies, or capitalists for the same reasons.

I ask people why they have deer heads on their walls.  They always say because it's such a beautiful animal.  There you go.  I think my mother is attractive, but I have photographs of her.

"Most people, if they knew how fur was made, if they knew how animals were killed, most people wouldn't be down with it. If you saw a guy hurting a puppy on the street, you definitely would say something, I know I would."

Save the Marine Creatures

A recent exhibition in a Samoan resort resulted in the captivity of 25 dolphins, they are held in small tanks with barely enough space to move. With this enclosed space the dolphin’s sensitive sonar ricochets off the walls driving them crazy. Marine animals are accustomed to limitless space and freedom, ultimately confining any animal will cause both physical and psychological damage.

Please help sign this petition

"For wild dolphins captivity is torture, their powerful sonar bounces off the walls back at them -- as if they are trapped in an endless house of mirrors. Most die young from stress induced illness, but some even commit suicide. If the wealthy Resorts World Sentosa succeeds in keeping them captive then half the dolphins will die in the first 2 years -- and it will legitimise the widely banned  practice of capturing dolphins in the wild. We can’t let that happen -- let's use our voices to set them free.

Resorts World was forced to abandon plans for a whale shark exhibit two years ago because of the huge outcry that threatened their reputation. Let’s build a massive call now to free these intelligent, beautiful creatures -- and make this a turning point in the fight to end the global wild-dolphin trade. Our petition will be delivered to Resorts World and the media."

Creature Feature

In 1827 a giraffe named Zarafa came to Paris as a gift to Kin Charles X. The French, most of whom had never seen such a creature, went wild for it, calling it “Sweet Thing.” More than 100,000 people came to visit Zarafa and suddenly giraffe furniture, porcelain, and decorations were everywhere. Lades wore gowns with themes like “Giraffe in love” and “Giraffe in exile.” Men tied “giraffe knots” in their ties in their ties. Most bizarre was the “à la giraffe” hairdo. It was so tall that the women who wore it had to sit on the floor of their carriages when they went out to a ball.

I do not take credit for this!

Race to the Death

Why should animals be used for entertainment? In some countries some dog racing is used for making money by gambling and in others, its just pure entertainment. But what happens when the dogs are too old to race anymore? Up to half a million Greyhounds are killed per year because they’re too old to participate in races, few are adopted.

Only one in four retired dogs find a home as a pet. The others? Either put to sleep or kept for breeding new race dogs. There are many ways animals are used for entertainment, for example Marine Parks, Bullfights, Zoos and Dog fighting. We need to put a stop to this, watching them might be entertaining, but what happens to the animals when they can’t be used is way beyond your imagination.

Value

Human lives. Lives of animals.

If you can value a human life, you can value the lives of any other animals. From giant animals like elephants to tiny ones like fish.

You can value the life as long as you have conscience.
Those who don't support animal cruelty. Ask yourself. Let your conscience kick in. It's time for change.

ALexander Von Humbolt

Cruelty to animals is one of the most significant vices of a low and ignoble people. Wherever one notices them, they constitute a sign of ignorance and brutality which cannot be painted over even by all the evidence of wealth and luxury.

Poem by Sherman Alexie

I saw a man swerve his car
And try to hit a stray dog,
But the quick mutt dodged
Between two parked cars

And made his escape.
God, I thought, did I just see
What I think I saw?
At the next red light,

I pulled up beside the man
And stared hard at him.
He knew that’d I seen
His murder attempt,

But he didn’t care.
He smiled and yelled loud
Enough for me to hear him
Through our closed windows:

“Don’t give me that face
Unless you’re going to do
Something about it.
Come on tough guy,

What are you going to do?”
I didn’t do anything.
I turned right on the green.
He turned left against traffic.

I don’t know what happened
To that man or the dog,
But I drove home
And wrote this poem.

Why do poets think
They can change the world?
The only life I can save
Is my own.

Animal and Children Abuse

Animal abuse. Have people compared it to child abuse before? I personally think its rather similar since in both cases, the victim is rather small and has a disadvantage. I believe there is a teeny tiny difference between a human baby and a baby animal.

Raising awareness is important. And of course, it's not only about animals, also for other things; racism, child abuse, discrimination, bullying, suicides etc. All of these are important and can cost the life of someone.

Anyway, i believe that the problem of animal cruelty is more significant. Domestic violence..there are escapes and children can ask for help. But say animals, if you lock them in a cage, they wouldn't know how to escape. They have no way of escape. We think that they have no emotions, no feelings and a bred by insensitive capital owners to earn money and for people to enjoy their fast food.

If we put ourselves in their feet, i'm sure we would not want, say, Giants, to keep us in a field like we're a herd of sheep so we can be cooked in their stew for dinner.

Stand On Your Feet and Speak Out

Unity.

Holding signs and yelling protesting remarks is past our time. We should stop waiting for people to change their ways. No matter how much we encourage them, those who have had the determination to change their ways would already have done so. It is time we do some action. Some life changing activist action. I've always been a supporter of animal rights, me being an animal lover since i was a kid.

There has always been something i don't really grasp. Animals and Humans. Our different rankings. Before they can't speak our language?

If you see a kid being murderd, a woman being raped, a man being robbed, would you  allow these heinous crimes to continue without interfering? Yes. I'm sure most of you would. Maybe not indirectly, but you would call the police.

So what's the difference if it's an animal? Why should animals be treated any differently? Do you really think they don't feel pain? No. That isn't true. They are exactly like us.

People are born, animals are killed. But there are growing numbers of activists and vegans. We have to turn our mindset, our determination and our love for animals into weapons.
