Dog Rules

I found this amusing because it applies to my house (apart from the first rule of course!)

Marley & Me

I just reread the book. It's so touching i cried. Everytime i read it or watch the movie. I cry. And i don't even know the dog. But it's just so sad. I can't even bear think about the future of my own dog. No. Just no.

Share Your Thoughts!

Tell people about your opinion and views on animal rights. Keep talking about it. The more people you tell the better. I've done that billions of times, and although i normally don't think of people as inferior to me, when you express your views to other people who don't seem to care at all, you get this feeling or moral superiority because i feel like i've contributed something while they haven't.

As long as you do things right, i guess people would follow you since a person who supports and helps animals is definitely not a bad person. But no, that doesn't mean you should go to Mcdonalds and start waving vegan signs to customers or arguing with Burger King employees about how they shouldn't work there.

The Best Thing

The best birthday gift, the best gift for a festival to an animal is a loving person. A loving person who will unconditionally care for the dog, feed the dog and shower him with love.

We need more of these people.

Feelings

Perhaps some people just won't feel the strong "against animal cruelty" feeling like i do, but i know that a lot of people do, and my regular views do too, i'm sure of that. Everytime the subject of animal comes up, i get excited and passionate, but when it is about animal abuse or animal cruelty or something of that sort, my anger fires up.

I really hate living in a world how there are people who get satisfaction from hurting creatures that are vulnerable and less strong. And yes, this applies to bullying too, and as a victim of bullying, i can say that it is one of the worst experiences in life and i would never want that to happen ever again. Animals are beautiful. They're easy to bond with. Easy to communicate with even though we don't speak a common language.

No one likes to feel helpless. When you're helpless, you try to hold on to someone who could help you. Same goes to animals. But the thing is, we can speak up, we can fight, but those poor little creatures can't.

Don't understand

There's one thing i really don't understand. How people can look into cute innocent eyes of animals and still don't feel guilty hurting them.

The Hanging

The hanging of ‘Mary’
Mary was a five-ton Asian elephant who performed in the Sparks World Famous Shows circus. On September 12, 1916, she killed assistant elephant trainer Red Eldridge while he was taking her to a nearby pond to splash and drink. There are several accounts of his death but the most widely accepted version is that he prodded her behind the ear with a hook after she reached down to nibble on a watermelon rind. She went into a rage, snatched Eldridge with her trunk, threw him against a drink stand and stepped on his head, crushing it.
On September 13, 1916, she was taken to Erwin, Tennessee, where a crowd of over 2,500 people assembled in the Clinchfield Railroad yard. There, she was hanged by the neck from a railcar-mounted industrial crane. The first attempt resulted in a snapped chain, causing Mary to fall and break her hip as dozens of children fled in terror. The severely wounded elephant died during a second attempt and was buried beside the tracks.

End Factory Farming

It only takes a click!

Factory farming is destroying our environment, our communities, animal welfare, and even our health – at an alarming rate. It is critical that we bring an end to factory farming, to restore a more viable food system and preserve our world.

Factory farms have driven small farms out of business and represent the majority of our food system today. The industry has cleared vast areas of forest and rainforest, producing 18% of all greenhouse gas emissions from animal agriculture alone, wasting food and water resources, and polluting our air and water. On factory farms, animals are also induced to grow bigger, to grow faster, and to produce more than their systems can support, while they are subjected to confinement and painful mutilations. Factory farming practices spread diseases, such as mad cow, swine flu, and various food poisonings, including e-coli and salmonella. Extensive antibiotic use by factory farms creates drug resistant bacteria, which puts human health at risk.

For these reasons, the first National Conference to End Factory Farming brought together individuals and organizations representing the animal protection, health and environmental movements to confront factory farming’s common threats. We seek reform, through consumer education, the Farm Bill and local, state and federal policy change. Together, we urge:

• Food policy and nutrition education that reduces consumption of animal products and increases consumption of fresh fruits, vegetables and whole plant foods – minimizing factory farming’s impact and promoting health.
• Sustainable agriculture practices that lessen resource use, pollution and land degradation.
• Elimination of non-therapeutic antibiotics in animal agriculture.
• Eradication of intensive animal confinement, de-toeing, de-beaking, and tail docking.
• Improved regulation of waste disposal affecting rural communities.
